Increased Spam
A few of you might have noticed a huge increase in spam in the last 4 days. I know I have!!! We do have Spam Assassin on the job. However this kind of attack is hard to counter.
What you can do:
1) protect your email address, use it only for correspondent with know recipients.
2) Open a Free Yahoo Or Hotmail account and use this email for any kind
of sign ups, meaning anywhere a website ask for your email address.
Then just check it once in a while and empty the astonishing amount of
spam it will quickly create.
3) If you forward emails make sure you strip out all the previous email
address, sometimes I get emails forward to me with 100's of previous
emails, and bonus day for spammers!
4) Use a mail filter, or rule, this is in your email program and will put anything marked as spam into the trash.
5) If your spam is really bad, I can put a very strong Spam trapper at
server level, this will require everyone who emails you to go through
an approval process. We can pre seed the approved emails and subjects,
before hand. But you will have to log into the trapper and empty
regularly.
6) Last case scenario is change email addresses, if you feel it is too
much with and your email address is beyond repair, we can set you up
with a new email address, but I will recommend the use of the free
account for any sign ups!
Remember in this day and age your email is a valuable commodity,
your phone number is now used less and less for those sales calls, and
your email is the prize. Keep it away from spammers lists!
